Join resident artist and wellness practitioner Ruth Wheeler for a nourishing Art & Wellness Retreat set in the beautiful surroundings of Coastal Valley Cornwall.

During May half term and early July before state schools break up, Ruth will be leading a gentle and inspiring creative yoga retreat where guests can slow down, reconnect, and explore both movement and creativity at their own pace and choose their own programme to suit their interests and needs. You can choose from  two yoga classes a day, or take part in a creative workshop each day or do everything.

Ruth Wheeler has been teaching art for 25 years and delivering retreats and teaching yoga for over 10 years.

Her gentle style of teaching makes everyone feel relaxed and at ease. 

She combines various styles of yoga that she had trained in an intuitive and accessible way which is perfect for beginners and those with more experience so each person receives what they need from each yoga session. She is strongly rooted to Seasonal yoga and weaves in the energy of the season into her classes with her own playlists and oils to match.

She has over 25 years experience teaching art workshops from wood carving, clay, painting and pyrography, copper embossing and soapstone carving.

She has 12 years of teaching yoga (seaonal yin, hatha, vinyasa, yoga nidra and meditation) She is qualified as a seasonal coach and she weaves essential oils education and Indian head massage into her workshops and classes.

Art and Wellness Retreat 

Ruth Wheeler is an experienced and qualified yoga teacher of 12 years and a Seasonal Wellness and essential oils coach. She has also led many retreats and teaches art in schools and in her studio in Surrey. She takes inspiration from the earth itself  and uses only natural materials in her own practise. She is particularly drawn to wood and she will share her 25 years of wood burning, sculpting and painting experience over the week.

Join Ruth and learn the basic techniques in wood burning (pyrography) copper, stone and clay throughout the week. Go home with four beautiful pieces or combine them all into a mixed media piece of art.

Coastal Valley Camp and Crafts is located in a beautiful valley and is within walking distance to Watergate Bay and Porth Beaches near Newquay in Cornwall, Uk

What to expect:

Includes two daily yoga classes and 6 hours of art classes on 4 of the days. Half board is included in the cafe onsite and includes breakfast a vegetarian dinner with tea and coffee and flavoured waters. A Camping pitch is also included in the price. 

You can also upgrade to glamping if you wish. There are a few options for small groups, couples or individuals in pods, tents and cabins

THE RETREAT

Wake up in the morning for an energising slow vinyasa flow  class to start your day, enjoy a healthy breakfast and four of the  days you will have a 90 minutes art class either after breakfast or before dinner. Depending on the weather, activities and energy of the group, we will either come together before for a restorative / yin yoga or after dinner for either a yoga nidra or wellness workshop (Indian head massage with  essential oils, meditation, yoga dance, seasonal life coaching session) 

Art Workshops included:

1× wood pyrography art or pebble

1x copper embossing 

1× soap stone mini sculptures

1x mixed media workshop 

A typical day :

A typical day with an art class will either be a morning or afternoon depending on the weather. We will have a few days where we can spend the whole day out and about with no formal art class!

But you can still be creative yourself!

Typical Art and Yoga Day.

8-9 am Vinyasa flow yoga 

9. 15 am breakfast

10.30 am - 12 pm Art Class or Beach / free time

Or

3- 4.30 pm Art Class or free time 

5 - 6 pm Yin/ Restorative yoga 

Or 

8.30- 9.30 pm yoga nidra, essential oils, seasonal coaching etc 

If you are interested in spending more time being creative with me and you would like more time to work on a bigger project over rhe week then I will be happy to do so and you can arrange it with me on an hourly basis £20 an hour. Or you may like to bring your own art materials and work on your own art too.

Ruth's Art workshops are open to all abilities, each day Ruth will offer a creative workshop using natural materials from the earth : wood, stone, copper and clay in various ways. Beachcombing, nature walks and sketching the inspirational coastlines and countryside will also be incorporated.

Ruth's wellness retreats give space to rest, recuperate and restore as well as to enjoy little creative moments along the way. We will explore the coast and enjoy the natural setting, eat great food together and enjoy each other's company, creating special moments and friendships. 

You can take part in extra paid activities foraging walk, swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking, walks, sound bath, massages, nutrition, reiki, and more, which we can arrange with coastal valley.

This retreat is designed to be supportive, grounding, and welcoming—whether you’re new to yoga and art or looking to deepen your existing practice.
